About The Position

The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Ground Support Equipment (GSE). This role involves conducting diagnostics and repair of less complex repair/maintenance problems, inspecting and approving completed maintenance actions, and solving repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical publications. The mechanic will use automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions. Additionally, the mechanic will analyze, diagnose, and repair GSE using various tools such as conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools. Responsibilities also include maintaining external fuel and grounding systems, performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE, and inspecting, testing, and operating GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation. The mechanic will service equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, diagnose mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions, and disassemble and assemble malfunctioning GSE accessories and components. Furthermore, the role requires the mechanic to store, handle, label, use, and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations. The mechanic will prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment, operate, clean, inspect, and service GSE towing vehicles, maintain vehicle records, and provide dispatch service for GSE. The position may require official travel to temporary duty sites within and outside the United States and entails responsibilities for good housekeeping, hazmat, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance.
  • US Citizenship is required to obtain the clearance.
  • High school graduate or have an equivalency certificate from an accredited program.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver's license with a HAZMAT endorsement.
  • Proficient in Office software applications, especially Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend/interpret data.
