About The Position

United Ground Express (UGE) is seeking an experienced Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Shop Maintenance Manager to oversee all GSE operations at Denver International Airport (DEN). This role is responsible for managing the entire GSE shop and facility, supervising employees, coordinating maintenance activities, and ensuring all equipment remains safe, compliant, and operational in a fast-paced airport environment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge, proven airport operations experience, and the ability to manage people, vendors, and assets effectively. This role offers the opportunity to lead critical GSE operations at one of the busiest airports in the country. Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in airport operations, maintenance or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of experience leading and managing a team
  • Demonstrated understanding of airport operations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-volume airport environment
  • Working knowledge of work order management and inventory systems (Fleet Focus preferred)
  • Technical background in mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electrical systems
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must possess ability to: communicate and interact with others in the English language, both oral and written. use computers and other office equipment sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time withstand repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers pass all pre-screening clearances applicable to position qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all GSE maintenance operations at the DEN station, including preventative maintenance, unscheduled repairs, and work order documentation
  • Manage the GSE shop, facility, and assigned employees, ensuring compliance with company and airport standards
  • Maintain accurate GSE inventory by ensuring all assets are entered, tracked, and accounted for in company preferred automation system
  • Approve or deny station repair requests based on operational needs, circumstances, and management playbooks
  • Monitor repair status, order parts and supplies, and coordinate repair schedules with internal teams and outside vendors
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with: Equipment suppliers GSE maintenance service providers Parts vendors and logistics companies Internal customers and station leadership
  • Provide expert GSE troubleshooting and maintenance guidance to vendors via phone, email, or in person
  • Review, approve, and enter GSE-related invoices into the company preferred automation system
  • Evaluate and enforce internal control procedures, policies, and maintenance standards
  • Generate weekly and monthly reports to track station budgets, damages, repairs, and overall equipment health
  • Assist with periodic and annual GSE inventory audits to ensure data accuracy
  • Provide feedback to station managers and leadership on operational, damage, and maintenance-related issues
  • Assist with minor facility maintenance issues as required
  • Lead, train, mentor, and guide team of GSE Mechanics
  • Provides coaching and direction to the station team to achieve operational goals
  • Conduct training and orientation as necessary
  • Support station transitions and participate in GSE audits as assigned
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support UGE GSE system operations
