About The Position

This position is directly responsible for the leadership, direction, administration and management of ground support equipment maintenance employees, procedures and equipment at their location. This includes safety and compliance, maintaining and overseeing all ground services equipment, trucks and support equipment, maintenance policies and procedures, record keeping, inventory of parts, equipment and development of maintenance programs that align with management goals and progressive training initiatives for the maintenance employees that foster and instill QAS principles. Employee must maintain compliance with all local, state and federal rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Aviation Management or related field with a minimum of two years of experience in managing a GSE maintenance operation or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Proficient within Microsoft Office suite programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel);
  • This position requires a broad range of mechanical and management experience including but not limited to GSE equipment, service vehicles, tractor/trailer, industrial pumps and hoses, storage facilities, fuels, fluids, facility requirements and safety/regulatory requirements;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to listen to others and value opinions, interpret information, promote and execute ideas, preparation of reports and presentations and promote an environment of open communication;
  • Capable of interacting with all levels of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Must be a team player with ability to lead team in meeting goals, identifying areas of strength within a team, build and maintain work teams and relationships, and follow through to be sure that deadlines are met and success/failures are identified following each task assignment;
  • Ability to assist General Manager in managing project tasks assigned to his/her location to include follow up with team to outline progress on assigned tasks, provide regular updates to the Regional Maintenance Manager on any concerns or new information, and be an active participant for the successful completion and involvement of the team project;
  • Ability to mentor, coach and lead employees, mechanics and other assigned staff for further growth and development;
  • Direct and manage all aspects of the maintenance department with ability to identify ways to improve and progress for process improvement. Develop goals and objectives for the maintenance department and employees;
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with ability to manipulate multiple projects and meet conflicting deadlines timely;
  • Actively promote adherence to safety practices and programs and hold site employees accountable for leading safety and compliance in the workplace. Work in a safe manner and lead by example in the context of performing the functions of this position;
  • Compliance with all applicable environmental laws and permits;
  • Must be able to speak and hear efficiently;
  • Must have own basic tools (screw drivers, hammers, pliers, volt meter etc.). Sockets and wrenches up to 1 inch in size and also up-to a ½” drive;
  • Must be able to pass required background and clearance requirements to obtain an airport badge;
  • This position requires an employee to obtain a US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seal. Orlando FL CBP requires US citizenship or US permanent resident status in order to receive a CBP seal;
  • A valid driver’s license is required for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with information entry into a CMMS system;
  • Previous fleet, Mechanic shop or dealership work experience preferred;
  • Previous experience diagnosing and repairing electrical systems and Hydraulics systems;
  • Experience with GSE and or, mobile field service trucks associated equipment;
  • ASE or manufacturer certifications highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Participate and exchange ideas in meetings and conference calls with the station general Manager and mechanics. Keep the Regional Maintenance manager informed of new developments;
  • Ability to oversee inventory to include ordering and allocating necessary parts and ground support equipment (GSE) in anticipation of needs, while maintaining a current inventory of all essential parts and supplies;
  • Ensure the maintenance department is focused on achieving optimal GSE equipment service, conducts regular equipment checks, maintains essential and up-to-date recordkeeping and is capable of utilizing their equipment to maximum potential;
  • Perform inspections of GSE as needed, and provide technical guidance to GSE mechanics to ensure operational readiness and safety;
  • Responsible for staying current on the maintenance GSE program software. This includes reading service bulletins, preparing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, managing inventory of GSE, follow through on warranty claims and calibration of tools critical for operational readiness;
  • Foster an environment where GSE maintenance team, ramp, operations, and corporate staff work together for the success of the maintenance department and the company;
  • Responsible for staffing, training and development of employees including performance management, team leadership, succession planning, conducting interviews, and employee relations;
  • Communicate frequently with the Operations Supervisors on any GSE maintenance issues, equipment failures and/or employee issues. Review and make recommendations for preventing further occurrences. Report on the maintenance operations of the station. Also inform and provide any necessary documentation to the General Manager on all equipment failures, parts and facility issues and new manufacturer/regulatory policies relevant to GSE;
  • Travel to other QAS Airport stations;
  • Successful completion of all required training and follow up training and other duties as assigned.
