About The Position

The GSE/Diesel Mechanic will perform operational duties for the GSE shop to ensure the safe and efficient repairs and rebuilding of service equipment. The position is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and PMI on ground support equipment, to include fuel trucks, deicing trucks, tugs, pickup trucks, passenger vehicles, and non-automotive rolling stock equipment such as tow bars, aircraft jacks, etc. This position will be on 1st shift, working Sunday - Thursday with flexibility to work possible Friday/Saturday when needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent general education Degree (GED).
  • 5 to 7 years of mechanical experience required.
  • 3 to 5 years of diesel mechanic experience preferred.
  • Possession of a professional automotive/mechanical certification desired.
  • Technical background in hydraulics, electrical, welding, body work, etc.
  • Computer literacy including familiarity with computer aided maintenance tools.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, effective in time management, effective at multi-tasking and detail oriented.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be willing to work any shift in a 7-day operation, including nights and weekends
  • Work will be performed inside and outside of shop as required by job.
  • Candidate must be able to clear a fingerprint-based criminal history check in order to obtain and retain credentials necessary for the position. Position specific clearances include but are not limited to FAA, TSA, and Port Authority
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
  • A valid, clear driver's license
  • Supply own tools

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a professional automotive/mechanical certification desired.
  • 3 to 5 years of diesel mechanic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the maintenance of the vehicles functional condition by inspecting, trouble shooting, and repairing both gas and diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensures that all records relating to the maintenance of equipment are completed and maintained as required by regulations.
  • Coordinates the response to all repair calls on the operational facilities.
  • Assists in the investigation of all damage to service equipment.
  • Coordinates and documents all monthly, quarterly, and annual quality control checks of the equipment.
  • Coordinates and oversees the timely completion of all shop paperwork.
  • Coordinates necessary parts availability through the parts department.
  • Coordinates timely reporting of complete and in process repairs to the GSE Manager.
  • Assists the GSE Manager with a variety of tasks and special projects as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and timely attendance as set forth by company guidelines.
