About The Position

As a leader in Supply Chain, you will be responsible for managing and leading a team in one of the key areas: manufacturing/ warehouse operations, supply chain system, and processes, VAA suppliers, launch execution and scheduling and material management. Position will be responsible for developing operational plans or new processes, in support of the organization’s business strategies with a direct impact on the organization's overall business results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or Business or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience working in Supply Chain in a high-volume unionized manufacturing environment
  • 10+ years of supervisory/leadership role in a manufacturing environment
  • MGO, EPS, PPS, and WMS experience
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time or higher based on business needs domestically and/or internationally.

  • Strong demonstrated problem-solving skills and experience in complex supply chain environment
  • Proficient in GM-GMS & SME in SLT principle
  • Previous department leadership position or staff position
  • Certified calibrator for SLT
  • Delivered TOP quartile or benchmark performance in previous GSC role
  • Executed automation projects effectively working with cross functional and union partners.

Responsibilities

  • In this role you will lead a team and provide employee development, training, and drive the performance management process as well as manage an efficient organizational structure.
  • Executes deliverables in support of the organization's business objectives.
  • Guides of one of the key areas within the Global Supply Chain to ensure business objectives are met or exceeded in all areas including customer, quality, service, responsiveness, people, safety, product and financial initiatives.
  • Position communicates to all levels of the organization, within the function as well as other functions and suppliers.
  • Position is responsible for supporting relationship management with logistic suppliers and service providers.
  • Ability to understand and assess complex supply chain issues and lead teams in a cross functional environment to successfully resolve issues minimizing impacts to vehicle production.
  • Assess supplier schedules and impact on vehicle assembly production
  • Collaborate cross functionally to develop creative solutions
  • Ability to summarize critical issues with resolutions and communicate to leadership
  • Handle very complex capacity constraint issues to resolution with goal to eliminate potential plant disruptions and reduce premium transportation
  • Analyze metrics supporting supplier critical issues or sufficiency plan resolution
  • Ability to be flexible and at times work extended and non-core hours to ensure issues are worked to resolution
  • Ability to travel to plant locations when required for onsite support of launch and build-out
  • Ability to tackle complete issues and implement new and innovative strategies
  • Deep understanding of Supply Chain functions
  • Leading, guiding and directing a team that is responsible for executing deliverables in support of the logistic organization's business objectives.
  • Provides leadership of one of the key areas within GM Global Logistics/Containers to ensure business objectives are met or exceeded in all areas including customer, quality, service, responsiveness, people, product and financial initiatives.
  • Communicates within the function as well as other functions, external affiliates, regulatory agencies.
  • Responsible for supporting relationship management with logistic suppliers and service providers
  • Manage supplier relationships and operational performance.
  • Influences others within the organization to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.
  • Identify problems, update or modify work methods that may be complex in the work area without the benefit of defined procedures.
  • Promote GM's values and make customer-focused decisions.
  • Hold accountability for staffing, communicating, training and development, in addition to, directing and prioritization of work, evaluating performance, and removing roadblocks.
  • Provides technical leadership to team and interacts and collaborates with multi-functional teams to meet targets.
  • Lead team on new methods or initiatives without defined procedures.
  • Hiring processes: You will identify & lead staffing initiatives for work team. Part of the duties will include conducting regularly scheduled group meetings, communicating GM policies & procedures, leadership and safety messages.
  • You will craft specific to functional communication on vision & strategy, which may include preparing and giving presentations.
  • Training & Developing: Ensures employees are in compliance with all mandatory GM training and any specific training related to functional responsibility.
  • You will need to understands & support employee's career development goals as well as develop and execute initiatives to improve work team capability and increase work team capacity.
  • Delegation: Assigns and balances workload for direct reports. You will also set individual employee and group priorities.
  • Monitoring & Approving GM Records: You will make decision about employee work and overtime
