The Grow Your Own Program is designed to support current district employees who are interested in becoming certified teachers. If selected for the program, you will have the opportunity to earn your teaching credential through an accelerated graduate program offered by Davenport University, which we will fully fund on your behalf. You will continue working in your current district position (full-time, part-time, temporary, substitute, or contract) while completing the graduate program. Additionally, you will receive academic and professional support from the district and the University throughout your journey to becoming a teacher, making an impact on your community and becoming the teacher our scholars need!

  • Complete the accelerated graduate program offered by Davenport University.
  • Continue working in your current district position while completing the graduate program.
  • Commit to working in a GRPS teaching position for at least 2 years upon successful completion of the program.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (case-by-case evaluation for lower GPAs).
  • Good standing with the district in terms of attendance, performance, and behavior.
  • Ability to commit to completing the intensive graduate program.
  • Commitment to work in a GRPS teaching position for at least 2 years after program completion.
  • Earn a teaching credential at zero cost to the employee.
  • Receive academic and professional support from the district and the University.
