About The Position

Groves Spray Technician SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE Drive, operate, and maintain a tractor/sprayer or similar type of farm machinery to spray citrus groves to control pests, diseases, weeds, and grass. As directed, attach the spraying mechanism to the tractor, properly mix tanks with designated chemicals and spray indicated areas being certain to maintain proper application speed and coverage. Be certain equipment has all safety shields and covers in place before using and follow all safety instructions in handling and storing all chemicals as directed by the manufacturer, the company and Federal regulations. Perform light maintenance and service of equipment and clean as needed. Maintain all chemical application records and logs.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Prior operation of spray equipment or similar tractor equipment required.
  • Pesticide spray experience required.
  • Pesticide license required.
  • Ability to plan and organize work according to Production Supervisor’s orders.
  • Able to prioritize and work within deadlines.
  • Effectively communicate and follow instructions.
  • Perform simple numerical operations such as counting, reading and writing.
  • Must be able to work effectively under time constraints and exercise good judgment under pressure.
  • Proactive, capable of multitasking and troubleshooting, finding innovative solutions.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Valid Driver's License with clean MVR a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic mechanical skills preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operation of all farm equipment.
  • Maintain daily spray logs (chemical application records).
  • Inspect equipment on a daily basis and report any deficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Attach spraying or grounds maintenance mechanisms to the tractor.
  • Properly mix tanks with designated chemicals and spray indicated areas.
  • Assures that tank mixes are being mixed according to supervisors.
  • Mix and load chemicals safely according to company, manufacturer and federal regulations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and service of equipment as required.
  • Keep the work area and equipment /supplies clean and in good working order.
  • Adhere to and implement all safety requirements and regulations.
  • All other duties assigned.
