About The Position
The Group Exercise Instructor will lead and motivate members in a group environment through a pre-arranged format of exercises designed to enhance overall fitness, strength, and endurance, while ensuring that the safety of the members is not compromised. This role involves delivering group fitness classes based on industry standards and approved formats, ensuring that classes begin and end promptly, and adhering to the scheduled format, standards, and times. The instructor will instruct participants on effective workout methods, explain proper techniques, demonstrate exercises, identify different muscle groups, and teach appropriate methods and modifications. The instructor will provide clear verbal instructions, ensuring that the volume, tempo of music, and overall atmosphere are motivational and conducive to hearing, teaching, learning, and having fun. In addition to leading classes, the Group Exercise Instructor will coach and motivate class participants to achieve their fitness goals while continually monitoring for signs of injury, illness, or overexertion. Interaction with participants is key; the instructor will answer questions, introduce or orient new participants, generate and maintain a positive exercise experience, and solicit feedback to maintain long-term participation and member retention. The instructor must ensure that all participants are using correct form during class and offer modifications and variations of the activities to accommodate all fitness levels. The role requires maintaining a positive and professional attitude towards responsibilities, fellow associates, members, and guests. The instructor will represent and promote Gold's Gym group exercise in a professional manner, adhering to appropriate fitness attire that demonstrates proper form, alignment, and movement of the body, while avoiding revealing attire. The instructor must consistently deliver scheduled classes as posted and actively coordinate and schedule a qualified substitute in the event of necessary absence to avoid cancellations. Additionally, the instructor will provide legally purchased music appropriate for the class format, ensuring that it does not contain foul or offensive language. The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly and that microphones are in working order. They will maintain cleanliness and organization of the GGX room by ensuring equipment is put away and the sound system is turned off when not in use. Prompt notification to management of any equipment or facility repair needs is essential. The instructor will prepare any incident and/or witness reports as necessary in the event of accidents and accurately record hours worked and class attendance information submitted to the GGX Manager in a timely manner. Attendance at all required staff meetings and a willingness to attend training to maintain or improve teaching skills is expected. Upholding the company's vision, mission, values, and code of conduct, as well as complying with all Gold's Gym policies and procedures, is crucial. The instructor may also perform related duties as assigned.
