About The Position

POSITION PURPOSE The Group Supervisor is expected to plan and implement daily program activities and curriculum for assigned program. Maintain program quality. Ensure the safety, wellbeing and age-appropriate instruction of all children in care. Depending on position in, may oversee classroom staff to ensure program quality. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Read and be accountable for YMCA Policies, State Licensing Body (PA- DHS / NJ-NJ OOL) regulations, and Quality Rating System standards (Example: NAEYC, Keystone STARS, Grow NJ Kids). Supervise by being able to identify, SEE, HEAR, DIRECT and ASSIST to ensure the safety of each child in your direct care group at all times. Adhere to small group/ratio established by state licensing regulations. Accurately maintain attendance of the children in your care. Communicate effectively and timely with parents/guardians regarding children's program experience, progress (written as well as verbal). Maintain confidentiality, use sensitivity, and patience at all times. Provide quality Adult/Child interactions through engagement, positive and encouraging feedback, and asking open-ended questions. Maintain age-appropriate verbal interaction guidelines at all times; exercising patience. Maintain knowledge of GPY Association policies and procedures, risk management, safety practices and applicable laws. Know the YMCA mission and be able to articulate it. Ensure that centers are maintained with quality learning materials, organized accordingly in labeled containers associated with appropriate Learning Center. Attend team-planning meetings monthly or more as needed. Attend and renew as needed all necessary trainings as reflected in your training plan in coherence with YMCA Policies, State Licensing Body regulations, and Quality Rating System standards, including but not limited to 6 hours of childcare related trainings annually. Direct and maintain control of environments that build children’s self-esteem. Utilize positive reinforcement techniques for redirection as a form of behavior management. Accurately maintain daily attendance records, emergency contact binders, and allergy reports. Maintain compliant paperwork (timesheets, parent/guardian communication, incident reports, weekly reports, child observation reports).Actively campaign for the Annual Campaign and work to develop donors and volunteers. Conduct/record weekly child observations as well as any related to child behavior concerns or development that may require early intervention with parent/guardian(s). Coordinate, plan, and implement daily child centered and developmentally appropriate learning experiences within YMCA, state licensing, and quality rating system guidelines. Adapt the program whenever possible to meet the individualized needs of the children. Perform other related duties as assigned. ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Present documentation of achieved degree from an accredited college or university in education or human services related field as defined by the appropriate state licensing agency. Verify a minimum of 2 years (2500 hours) of childcare experience. As a Mandated Reporter you are obligated to report ALL suspicions of abuse or neglect to the requisite state agency. COMMITMENT TO SAFETY Maintaining the safety of all members, program participants, and staff by identifying and correcting risk situations and ensuring incident-reporting procedures are followed. Ensuring the overall cleanliness of the facility. Requirements

Present documentation of achieved degree from an accredited college or university in education or human services related field as defined by the appropriate state licensing agency.
Verify a minimum of 2 years (2500 hours) of childcare experience.
Ability to communicate information, instructions, and ideas so others will understand.
Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations between staff, members, children, and volunteers accurately.
The ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling; ability to move 20 pounds independently and utilize the “buddy system” or team lift for heavier items.
The person needs to occasionally move about the program area to access materials, members/program participants, emergency equipment, etc.
Constantly positions self to maintain program materials, including under desks, in closets, and on top of shelves.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to observe details at close range of objects where they actually are within a distance of 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
Acquire and maintain the following certifications: CPR/AED/O2 (valid 2 years with exception of Aquatics to renew annually), First Aid (valid 2 years) obtained through the American Red Cross
Requisite OSHA online trainings (valid 1 year unless otherwise noted)
Mandated Reporter Training (valid 5 years)
Additional training and development specific to your role as reference in onboarding packet.
