The Group Sales Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive group sales by building strong client relationships, analyzing market trends, and executing targeted sales initiatives. This role plays a key part in maximizing revenue by targeting group markets, negotiating contracts, managing complex sales operations, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The Group Sales Manager also collaborates with internal teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences while meeting or exceeding sales targets.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred, or High School Diploma with equivalent related experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of hotel sales experience or related field required.
  • Sales leadership experience is a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and motivate a sales team.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills; ability to cultivate leads, build client relationships, and secure group business.
  • Analytical abilities to evaluate market trends, sales statistics, and business performance.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in managing contracts, proposals, and sales records.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Delphi, and hotel sales/CRM systems.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build trust and loyalty.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and adaptable to changing business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tactical and strategic sales plans to achieve revenue goals.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor performance to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Build, manage, and maintain relationships with corporate clients, event organizers, and travel groups to secure group bookings.
  • Conduct weekly sales calls, site inspections, entertainment, and participation in industry trade shows to generate leads and future business.
  • Respond to all group sales inquiries within 24 business hours.
  • Provide guidance, training, and motivation to sales team members (as applicable) to achieve collective sales goals.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Sales and Director of Revenue to align strategies and optimize performance.
  • Evaluate historical data, customer preferences, and current/future trends to develop effective sales strategies.
  • Monitor competitor activity and prepare reports to support decision-making and strategy development.
  • Partner with hotel operations to ensure seamless execution of group bookings, events, and client expectations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date sales records in the hotel’s CRM system.
  • Participate in management and staff meetings, budget reviews, and forecasting discussions.
  • Negotiate, draft, and execute group contracts to maximize profitability while ensuring compliance with hotel policies.
  • Manage the implementation and communication of contract details to hotel departments.
  • Represent the hotel in the local community, networking events, and professional organizations.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
