About The Position

The Group Sales Manager will prospect, manage and develop key accounts for Nobu Hotel Chicago. Meet & exceed individual room, banquet and ancillary revenue goals. Negotiate rates and hotel services within hotel revenue guidelines. Develop action plans for account solicitation in defined market/territory. Entertaining hotel clients both on and off property. Travel to feeder markets. Execute plans for representing the hotel on site visits and sales calls (phone & in market). Attending required internal meetings for sales. Represent Nobu Hotel Chicago and RCD Hotels in the highest professional manner at all times.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate required. College degree preferred. Degree in hospitality management preferred.
  • Experience: One to two years Hotel Sales Manager experience in a similar resort or Conference Center.
  • Computer Skill & Other Technical Skills: Ability to utilize computer software and hardware required. Ability to easily maneuver on computer keyboard required.
  • Communication: Ability to comprehend and speak English to understand and respond to information and address advanced guest requests required both verbally and in writing.
  • Other: Must be customer-service oriented and have excellent hospitality skills.

Responsibilities

  • Execute sales activities to achieve budgeted goals
  • Assist in the annual, quarterly and monthly strategic sales plan
  • Analyze business to ensure booking guidelines and parameters for proper meeting space to guestroom ratio is appropriate to meet hotel’s objectives
  • Aggressively build and maintain professional and active relationships with clients, third parties and industry related counterparts, recognizing these key sources as lead generators
  • Negotiate with clients and achieve maximum revenue/profit potential while exceeding clients expectations
  • Maintain sales database with proper client and business information adherence to leader’s expectations
  • Support and plan special sales activities, promotions and client events
  • Problem solve with other departments as needed to book business into the hotel
  • Prepare details for groups prior to group arrival
  • Participate in resume review meetings with applicable departments
  • Conduct pre- and post-conference meetings as appropriate
  • Enlist senior management and leverage relationships to interact with tentative or prospective clients in order to book business
  • Actively participate in associations, events, clubs and boards
  • Stay ahead of hotel competition- their new developments, services and amenities, to ensure competitive knowledge and strategy are current
  • Review STR data for RevMAX
  • Qualify RFPs, review market for comparable.
  • Assume active ownership of assigned sales territory and responds to specific market needs, initiates needed action and suggests to sales leadership any necessary actions
  • Perform all responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner, following established policy and projecting a favorable image of the hotel
  • Discuss, support and innovate key service and product differentiators on an ongoing basis
  • Complies with hotel standards for sales while working harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and leadership team
  • Perform tasks and projects that support client schedules and sales revenue achievement such as assisting with telephone volume, walk-in site inspections, and evening and weekend appointments
  • Has excellent product knowledge of hotel facilities, capacities and room dimensions as well as to have same knowledge of competitive hotels
  • Participate in Setup and Breakdown of event spaces as required by business/events.
  • Interface with the catering company and events team(s).
  • Plan and/or attend and/or participate in meetings with hotel associates as well as pre-conference meetings
  • Highly motivated and flexible, possessing the ability to take initiative, to succeed under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Have analytical skills, as well as excellent problem recognition and resolution skills as well as the ability to objectively communicate troublesome spots ahead to the hotel’s senior leadership
  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language
  • Knowledge of Sales, Reservation and Room’s distribution functions
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other colleagues by promoting teamwork and fostering a harmonious working climate
