About The Position

As a Group Sales Executive, you will support the Group Sales Director and collaborate closely with the field sales team to convert enquiries into confirmed business. You will manage group enquiries from assigned geographic markets, maximizing rooms and banqueting revenue while ensuring a seamless handover to the Convention Services team. This role requires high energy, strong customer focus, and a passion for delivering the W experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of related work experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Opera Sales & Catering, PMS systems.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently while thriving in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site inspections for prospective and tentative group bookings.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, meeting planners, corporate accounts, and organizations.
  • Build and grow a dedicated client portfolio through ongoing direct sales efforts.
  • Respond to all enquiries within 24 hours, ensuring excellent guest satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with GSOs, Convention Bureaus, third‑party partners, and internal stakeholders to drive revenue.
  • Target and achieve personal and hotel revenue goals.
  • Negotiate contracts and use creative selling techniques to secure high‑value opportunities.
  • Promote MI Leads (cross‑selling tool) and maintain strong knowledge of the Marriott Loyalty Program.
  • Participate in sales trainings and departmental meetings.
  • Process all reservation requests, modifications, and cancellations received by phone, email, or fax.
  • Enter and update Marriott Bonvoy information in the appropriate systems.
  • Handle guest calls, requests, questions, and concerns with professionalism.
  • Process loyalty redemptions (e.g., points, vouchers, gift certificates).
  • Determine and provide appropriate complimentary items as guest recognition.
  • Promote and reinforce brand image during every guest interaction.
  • Perform general office duties: filing, emailing, typing, faxing, maintaining documentation.
  • Assist Sales & Marketing with daily administrative tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records across operational systems (Opera S&C, PMS, internal tools).
  • Attend departmental and Marriott training sessions as required.
  • Support management in training and motivating employees; act as a role model.
  • Foster positive working relationships and contribute to shared departmental goals.
  • Monitor performance standards within the team when required.
  • Communicate professionally, verbally and in writing.
  • Follow all company policies, dress code, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Protect company assets and handle guest data responsibly.
  • Participate in the annual Engagement Survey and in special projects assigned by the Directors.
  • Take ownership when quoting business, aligned with strategic guidelines.
  • Prioritize and manage daily tasks effectively.
  • Conduct site inspections following established departmental standards.
  • Demonstrate strong social judgment and awareness of body language.
