About The Position

The Group Manager for Battery Systems will develop and supervise multiple world-class Battery Systems Labs to support new product development, technology evaluations, warranty investigations, and Product Support functions. This role involves building organizational capacity within the battery systems teams and leading the management of resources (facility, personnel, and equipment) across all Battery Systems Labs, including batteries, chargers, cells, and electronics. The manager will drive global alignment on all testing, including Work Instructions (WIs), Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs), hardware alignment, environmental control, and training across all labs executing Battery Systems testing. Additionally, the manager will define and drive project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables while monitoring progress to ensure successful outcomes. The role also includes identifying emerging trends, technologies, and opportunities in battery systems and providing strategic guidance to senior management. The manager will seek opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and efficiency enhancement within battery systems labs, all while leading with a commitment to safety, quality, and compliance in lab operations. Collaboration and communication with internal stakeholders, including R&D teams, product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance, are essential, as well as cultivating partnerships with external organizations, research institutions, and industry experts to drive innovation and knowledge exchange.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field and 10 years of relevant experience in a laboratory environment as an Engineer or related; OR Master's or equivalent degree in the same fields and 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with cell testers (Arbin, Maccor, power supplies, or custom testing equipment).
  • Experience in battery systems testing and training.
  • Experience in leading and managing projects.
  • Experience in process improvement, cost optimization, and efficiency enhancement within battery systems labs.
  • Knowledge of WIs, SoPs, hardware alignment, and environmental control.
  • Experience implementing lab safety standards (ISO9001, IEC17025, and UL CTDP).
  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
