The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in related management area
  • at least seven years of experience in progressively challenging technical or management positions.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills as evidenced by prior managerial, supervisory and/or technical leadership experience.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry standards and regulatory codes, such as, but not limited to: NEC, NFPA, IEEE is required.
  • Ability to successfully plan personnel resources (WYE) and budget other direct costs (ODC) at group level.
  • Must be well organized, flexible, and capable of effectively prioritizing multidisciplinary projects.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, presentation and customer interface skills required.
  • Capability to manage resources effectively within schedule and budgetary constraints.
  • Ability to lead and provide direction to employees regarding established safety, quality, and performance protocols.
  • Proven ability to be able to foster a motivated and productive staff with a passion for space flight.
  • Possess interpersonal, communication, and technical skills to guide the department to develop and maintain good customer relationships
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary
  • Must have a valid US Driver License
  • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge and experience with KSC ground support systems (GSE) design is highly desired.
  • Thorough knowledge of KSC/NASA design standards and procedures is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of Arc Flash analysis and mitigation implementation is highly desired.
  • Working knowledge and experience with engineering tools such as, but not limited to: Creo, AutoCAD, Windchill, ETAP, Maximo, and Solumina is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically lead a team of hardware engineers and CAD technicians toward the completion of design engineering projects associated with critical Ground Support Equipment (GSE) in support of manned spaceflight for the Space Launch System program.
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the allocated resources of the 3110 Electrical Design engineering team.
  • Supervise engineers and CAD technicians who support a wide array of electrical systems.
  • Create and/or adjust processes in support of design completion, fabrication, test and checkout of GSE.
  • Utilize strong engineering background to enable being able to review and approve electrical engineering design output.
  • Use engineering knowledge and experience to guide and mentor teams of electrical engineers.
  • Manage resources effectively within budgetary and time constraints, and contribute to the overall success of the company by providing a motivated and productive staff.
  • Use program and project management experience to develop success oriented schedule and delegate labor resources.
  • Manage internal department schedules and deliverables within strict project time constraints.
  • Evaluate results, employee performance, and organizational success while continuously improving upon past precedence.
  • Effectively communicate job expectations.
  • Mentor and inspire members of the team as well support their career development goals.
  • Uphold and foster the high level of performance, integrity, ownership, and accountability that the Electrical Design team is known for.
