General Position Summary This position works primarily with behaviorally challenged youth ages 6-17 in a foster home setting. This position provides crisis support, interventions, and learns to identify and support risk factors in youth. The Group Life Worker I fosters a mentoring relationship with the youth, identifies each youth’s individual strengths, and facilitates skill-building and recreational activities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma / GED.
  • Reliable transportation, valid Oregon driver’s license (or the ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver’s license within 30 days of hire) with a driving record that permits coverage under the agency’s corporate auto liability policy and personal automobile liability insurance.
  • Ability to complete core competency training within the first 3 months of employment.
  • Ability to obtain a CPR and First Aid Card plus a Food Handler’s Card.
  • Prior demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and coordinate youth activities is a plus.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Works with youth to identify strengths, issues, and needs.
  • Facilitates skill-building and recreational activities with youth.
  • Provides a structured, daily routine that supports public safety, personal safety, and accountability.
  • Assists in planning, coordinating, and supervising the recreational component for each youth.
  • Assists with and guides youth in household duties and recreational activities.
  • Communicates with family members and other support individuals for the youth, when appropriate.
  • Attend team meetings, which include mandatory compensated team meetings, and participate in organizational committees or teams as directed by the Program Manager or Program Director.
  • Stays current on latest trends recommended in the treatment and reformation of at-risk youth.
  • Schedules and transports youth to and from various outings, appointments, or services.
  • Supports the Respite Services Team with assignments or duties as directed by the Program Manager or Program Director.
  • Household upkeep duties such as cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc.
