The Group Leader position at the South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corp. (SoBRO) is a part-time role focused on managing and supporting youth in after-school programs and summer initiatives. The Group Leader will be responsible for providing homework assistance, developing and implementing project-based lesson plans, and facilitating various educational and extracurricular activities. This role is crucial in fostering academic learning and enhancing social and emotional skills among students. The Group Leader will also assist in leading activities such as snack time, dismissal, and community service projects, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all participants. In addition to direct interaction with students, the Group Leader will maintain accurate records of attendance and student progress, uphold program policies, and ensure the proper use of supplies and materials. The position requires participation in staff meetings and professional development workshops, with a minimum commitment of 30 hours annually. The Group Leader must be adaptable, capable of creating and facilitating lesson plans both in-person and remotely using platforms like Google Classroom and Zoom. This role is essential in contributing to the mission of SoBRO, which aims to enhance the quality of life in the South Bronx through innovative and outcomes-based activities for youth and families.
