About The Position

The primary purpose of the Group Leader is to plan, organize and coordinate the activities of the Team Members and Team Leaders within the Wastewater Treatment (WWT) Plants at Rivian. They will also provide job role coverage in the case of team absence. Additional responsibilities of this role may vary by department.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience operating a WWT plant.
  • 2+ years of experience managing people and processes.
  • Completion of the "Become a Team Leader: Development Program" or RLN.
  • High School Diploma/GED/Equivalency (preferred)
  • Class K Operator certification or higher.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Forms).
  • SAP proficiency.
  • Experience in MaintainX
  • Experience in plumbing, 120V - 480V electrical, framing, concrete finishing and repair.
  • Critical thinking and quick to pivot as needed for escalation items.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8-12 hours).
  • Ability to climb steps.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Ability to bend, squat, stopp, kneel, and reach.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Team Management
  • Planning projects based on team availability and skills.
  • Ensuring adherence to standardized work procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Providing coaching and feedback to team members.
  • Addressing team concerns and promoting continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring the team has the necessary tools and materials.
  • Managing timecards, quarterly reviews, and employee vacation / time off.
  • Operational Oversight:
  • Longer term project intake, coordination, planning, and oversight
  • Maintaining 5S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) and safety standards through regular plant walks.
  • Escalating plant conditions to higher management.
  • Ensuring compliance with standard business practices.
  • Checking and maintaining chemical and equipment inventory.
  • Completing leader standard work.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Filling in as an operator when needed.
  • Supporting new plant launches, ramp-ups, and production.
  • Leading continuous improvement activities.
  • Water sampling, quality testing, contaminant identification, and laboratory analysis.
  • Informing Operations and Maintenance procedures including required PMs, BOMs and spare parts.
  • Understanding of WWT and RO systems
  • Safety and Physical Requirements:
  • Maintaining safety standards.
  • Meeting physical demands, including standing, walking, climbing, and manipulating materials.
  • Understanding risks associated with process equipment, pumps, and open tanks, and a working knowledge of safe chemical handling
