About The Position

The Metrology Group Leader is a first-level supervisory role within the Metrology department, reporting to the Associate Director of Metrology. This position involves managing laboratory equipment and supervising Metrology staff, while executing basic Metrology functions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school education; a bachelor’s degree in a scientific field is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the field.
  • Experience with primary techniques and systems to enable scheduling work for Metrology staff and setting expectations for.
  • Set expectations for Metrology staff that aligns with company initiatives and goals.
  • Experience with basic techniques for maintaining equipment, including analytical instruments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot instrument issues in coordination with Metrology and Laboratory staff.
  • Evaluate instructions from technical manuals and equipment manufacturers.
  • cGMP experience and understanding of documentation and procedural requirements.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and focused on task completion.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Service-oriented and able to interact effectively with all company departments.
  • Competent, safe, and proficient in performing detailed job requirements.
  • Good organizational and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills; experience with cGMP is preferred.
  • Team player with integrity and concern for the quality of company products, services, and staff.
  • Ability to diagnose instrument and system issues and propose solutions, including working with instrument vendors.
  • Work independently after required training, following written methods and standard procedures.
  • Use basic data processing and analysis tools after training.
  • Learn and operate laboratory analysis equipment as required by specific projects.
  • Work in a cGMP environment, understanding necessary documentation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage projects, following written methods or procedures.
  • Set schedules for Metrology staff, evaluating the scope of work and required resources.
  • Assign monthly scheduled tasks, and internal problem tickets, to Metrology staff.
  • Estimate workload for team scheduling purposes based on experience with techniques and systems.
  • Maintain an on-call schedule for urgent instrument alarm status calls and serve on-call as needed.
  • Provide oversight for projects and assist other Metrology Technicians, as required.
  • Work independently with adequate training.
  • Organize and thoroughly evaluate assigned work, following written methods and procedures.
  • Understand the principles of instrument operation and required calculations.
  • Communicate effectively with laboratory staff and equipment manufacturers to resolve issues.
  • Maintain a cGMP-compliant environment, emphasizing the importance of documentation.
  • Keep the work environment organized, safe, and clean.
  • Ensure Metrology staff is properly trained.
  • Lift and carry up to 30 pounds, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
  • Perform Data Impact Assessments for instrument failures.
  • Lead Periodic Reviews of Instrumentation.
