The Total Fire Protection Journeyman/Group Leader position involves the installation, repair, and inspection of fire sprinkler systems.   • Install, repair, and inspect fire sprinkler systems.
  • Cut, thread, bend, and install pipe and related materials according to specifications.
  • Manage and train Field Apprentices.
  • Maintain positive customer relations.
  • Carry, lift, or transport steel or plastic pipe and sprinkler fittings.
  • Hang pipe and fittings from ceilings using ladders or aerial work platforms.
  • Tighten fittings, couplings, and mounting hardware using manual and power hand tools.
  • Read blueprints for installation specifications.
  • Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Follow safety rules and regulations as per the Total Fire Protection Safety Handbook.
  • Promote and enforce safe work habits and conditions.
  • Follow the direction of the project manager or field superintendent.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to field apprentices.
  • Coordinate job site tasks and production with various stakeholders.
  • Administer job site time schedules.
  • Must complete apprentice training within 4 years of date of hire.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Able to work at unlimited height restriction.
  • Have/Maintain a valid driver's license that meets Total Fire Protection minimum requirements.
  • General knowledge of the construction field.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to be available on-call when scheduled.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds, including handling heavy materials and tools.
  • Positive customer service attitude and people skills.
  • Effective communication skills with internal and external customers.
