About The Position

Provides technical and/or process direction to a group of team members. Assists the Ops Leader and Group Leader II (where applicable) in assigning daily tasks, meeting team results and objectives, and sharing the team performance. Supports an environment of efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • Must be able to navigate MSS and Microsoft products
  • Previous logistics experience required for consideration
  • Encourages and is receptive to suggestions and new ideas
  • Recommends new techniques, systems and procedures
  • Provides clear, concise instruction. Assists in resolving technical questions, as well as team member concerns/issues. Guides team members in the decision-making process.
  • Demonstrates professional behavior, good business judgment, and strong team interaction skills

  • Understands daily goals for each operation in their respective area of responsibility
  • Due to the Company’s military contractor status, the applicant must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the United States and must provide evidence of citizenship or immigration status upon applying for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Works as the primary trainer for many job functions
  • As directed by the Ops Leader and/or Group Leader II, performs daily production tasks.
  • As required, works as a backup for the Ops Leader and/or Group Leader II.
  • Assists in facilitating team problem solving and team meetings.
  • As directed by the Ops Leader, a Group Leader I may have oversight responsibility for a one or more work centers within a production team area
  • As directed by the Ops Leader, a Group Leader I may have responsibility for maintaining the T.I.B., performing Kamishibai Audits, 5S audits, TPM’s, Standard Work Audits and Safety Audits.
  • Partners with planners, manufacturing engineering and quality engineering to implement changes to reduce errors, improve throughput, and ensure customer due dates are met.
  • Helps to ensure team achieves results, meets goals, and follows up promptly on action items and requests, which may include material availability if applicable.
  • Reviews discrepancies, takes corrective action, recommends alternative methods, and provides constructive feedback to the team. Follows up to ensure corrective action has been implemented.
  • May be required to fill-in for other group leaders as necessary.
  • As required, will participate in potential new hire interviews
  • Must maintain sign on credentials for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website, GE Single Sign on, DCOE and others as required.
  • A Group Leader I, must have a working concept of LEAN principles
  • Actively looks for possible lean solutions to improve inefficiencies and workflow
  • Work with team to develop JIBs in applicable operations
  • Is capable and willing to lead PDCA activity either on his/her own or in a group setting
  • Is capable and willing to learn Value Stream Mapping
  • Assists in determining the skill level of each individual in their respective area of responsibility
  • Provide input on reviews, development plans and goal setting
  • Assists Ops Leader and Group Leader II (as applicable) with follow up on progress of development goals
