About the position

We now have an exciting leadership opportunity in the Community Development team leading the Environmental Science team based throughout New Zealand. In more detail the role involves: In conjunction with NZ CD Regional Director and the team, lead the establishment of short, medium and long-term strategies. Meet or exceed CD Environmental Science Team net profit. Ensure there is an appropriate level of qualified and experienced staff employed in the Team. Ensure that the personal development needs of all members of the Environmental Science Team are being addressed. Develop and implement strategies with senior staff members and other Stantec staff to continue a sustainable, market leading business. Drive the business development activities of the group as a whole. Ensure that the local internal and external business development strategies align with the national sector strategies. Enhance and build quality relationships with new and existing clients to ensure profitable repeat business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the establishment of short, medium and long-term strategies for the Environmental Science team.
  • Meet or exceed CD Environmental Science Team net profit.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels with qualified and experienced personnel.
  • Address personal development needs of all team members.
  • Develop and implement strategies with senior staff and other Stantec staff.
  • Drive business development activities for the group.
  • Align local business development strategies with national sector strategies.
  • Build and enhance relationships with clients for repeat business.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in a consulting environment.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen.
  • Proven leadership experience with an inclusive and proactive style.
  • Highly connected within the Environmental Science / Consulting sector.
  • Experience in achieving revenue, profit, and utilization targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage customer satisfaction.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional qualification in ecology, hydrogeology, contaminated land or water quality.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Skills to relate to and manage all levels of staff.
  • Sound client relationship and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of business and project finances and systems.
