About The Position

Group Home Manager Position Overview: The Group Home Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the group home, ensuring the well-being and safety of residents, and providing leadership and supervision to the staff. This role requires flexibility in scheduling, as well as a strong ability to handle emergency situations. The position reports directly to the District Manager and requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least two years of experience in mental health services, residential program operations, and personnel management. Schedule: This is a full-time position (40 hours per week), with 24-hour emergency on-call responsibilities as scheduled.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional certifications or training in mental health or residential program management is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in the mental health field or in a similar residential care environment, with a focus on staff supervision and program operations.
  • Proficient in using a variety of computer programs, including web-based systems, for documentation and communication.
  • Ability to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of residents. Capable of handling emergency situations and adapting to changing environments.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective during crises. Must be trained in First Aid, CPR, and emergency response.
  • Knowledge of resident rights, safety procedures, and fire prevention protocols.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required; ability to transport residents as needed.
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs, as well as perform tasks involving physical movement of residents or equipment as necessary.
  • On-call staff are required to carry a cellular phone and respond promptly to emergencies. Response times should be within 15 minutes.
  • On-call personnel must be prepared to make decisions, provide coverage for call-ins, and come into work if necessary.
  • Alcohol and mood-altering substances are strictly prohibited while on-call.
  • Must be familiar with resident treatment plans and reporting requirements for the program, ensuring that critical incidents are promptly communicated to supervisors.
  • All on-call personnel must be approved by the Area/District Supervisor and complete AFC Licensing and On-Call Management training.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergent needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with residents, staff, families, and other stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of the group home, state licensing rules and regulations, and are familiar with CMH policies and procedures are necessary

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and Supervision
  • Develop, implement, assess, and review resident treatment plans in collaboration with the residents and treatment team.
  • Manage and update resident entitlements (e.g., food stamps), and ensure financial records (personal allowances and bank accounts) are accurately maintained.
  • Oversee residents' medical, dental, and psychiatric needs, including appointment scheduling and coordination with healthcare providers.
  • Monitor residents’ medication needs, including medication acquisition, dispensation, and monitoring monthly weight and health metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with resident rights and respond promptly to any incidents, with thorough follow-up and documentation.
  • Maintain detailed resident records, ensuring accurate data collection and management.
  • Transport residents as needed to appointments or other locations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for guardians, payees, and families, maintaining professional and supportive communication.
  • Participate in evaluations and interviews for prospective residents, ensuring they align with program needs.
  • Approve PTO requests, manage staff schedules, and use the payroll system to ensure proper staffing levels.
  • Lead orientation and training for new employees, maintain up-to-date training records, and ensure all mandatory training is completed in a timely manner.
  • Provide continuous supervision, coaching, and performance feedback to staff. Conduct annual evaluations for all direct reports.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure staff responsibilities are carried out in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support when acting as primary backup, responding to emergencies, and maintaining the on-call system.
  • Maintain petty cash and ensure proper tracking and use of program funds.
  • Attend and participate in team and resident treatment meetings, case conferences, and other relevant meetings.
  • Oversee the daily operation of the house, ensuring it is clean, well-maintained, and in compliance with all safety standards.
  • Complete monthly manager reports, monthly billings, and other required documentation. Attend management meetings as necessary.
  • Ensure that all necessary equipment is available and properly maintained.
  • Attend training, workshops, and seminars to improve professional skills and stay current with industry standards.
