About The Position

Alternatives, Inc. is currently seeking a Group Home Manager for a home in Somerset, NJ. The Group Home Manager will be responsible for the overall operation and management of the assigned program, ensuring that individuals with Developmental/Intellectual Disabilities and Mental Illnesses receive the best support services. This role includes assisting individuals in activities of daily living, administering medication, providing transportation, and implementing individual plans and behavioral goals. The manager will support individuals in pursuing recreational, social, and community activities based on their preferences, ultimately helping them achieve personal outcomes that characterize a high quality of life.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks/drug screen
  • Clear tuberculosis screening
  • A valid driver's license, no more than 5 points or DUI in last 3 years
  • Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration and Positive Behavioral Support Training
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (preferred but not required)
  • If not currently fully vaccinated, must have had at least a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine prior to the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in activities of daily living skills
  • Administer or assist with prescribed medication
  • Provide transportation
  • Assist in the implementation of individual plans for individuals and behavioral plan goals
  • Support individuals in the pursuit of recreational, social and community activities based on their preferences and individual plans
  • Responsible for overall operation and management of assigned program
  • Work in conjunction with Director of Services in screening and selection of referrals to program
  • Design and implement Individual Service Plans for clients
  • Carry out IHP goals and Positive Support Plans designed by Behavior Analyst
  • Coordinate medical services to clients, ensuring appropriate interventions and documentation
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of medical needs of clients
  • Complete staff appraisals
  • Ensure staff attend required trainings in the established time frame
  • Supervise program staff including hiring and termination recommendations
  • Ensure all program staff are appropriately trained and maintain training records
  • Responsible for adherence to budgetary guidelines
  • Monitor and ensure safe-keeping of funds including clients' monies and petty cash
  • Serve as liaison and foster positive relationships between program and inter-agency departments
  • Provide community integration opportunities for clients
  • Conduct monthly staff meetings
  • Provide direct care support to clients in various areas including medical, daily living skills, and community awareness.
