The Role The Multnomah Athletic Club is seeking a Group Fitness Instructor. This individual will lead dynamic, high-energy group fitness classes that motivate participants of all levels. This role requires someone who is energetic, professional, and committed to providing top-tier fitness instruction while maintaining a supportive atmosphere for our members. This is a part-time, fully on-site role at our club in Portland, OR.

Requirements

  • Certification: Current certification in your current expertise, personal training certification is a plus.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year teaching experience in group fitness, preferably with a strong focus on your expertise.
  • CPR/AED Certification: Must have or be willing to obtain CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Knowledge & Skills: A strong understanding of body mechanics, group fitness, and class structure.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills to clearly instruct and motivate participants.
  • Physical Stamina: The physical capability to lead multiple classes in a day, with an emphasis on stamina, flexibility, and coordination. Ability to maintain high energy during extended classes.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Instructors must be available to teach classes in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends. Class times will be scheduled based on member demand and instructor availability, with the potential for additional hours during peak times or special events.

  • Continuous Development: Regularly refresh and enhance your class routines to maintain interest and excitement among participants.
  • Create a Supportive Environment: Foster an environment where every member feels encouraged and empowered to reach their fitness potential.
  • Ensure Safety: Adhere to best practices for safety and keep certifications up to date to ensure the well-being of all participants.
  • Punctual & Prepared: Arrive for every class on time, fully prepared, and with a positive attitude, ready to inspire others.
  • Other duties as assigned.
