About The Position

ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU. ‌ The key principle of this job is to support ACU’s Mission to educate students for Christian service and leadership throughout the world. Scope: Group Exercise Instructors are responsible for designing safe, fun, and effective group exercise classes to meet the various fitness levels of SRWC members.

Requirements

  • Professional Group exercise instructor certifications from one of the following: Zumba, NASM, AFAA, ACE, ACSM, RYS
  • Other certifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Current First Aid/CPR and AED cerfiication
  • Attention to detail concerning both visual and audible cues
  • Requires the mobility and the ability to lift heavy weights

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching in a group exercise setting is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality instruction by actively promoting, leading, and demonstrating safe exercise in accordance with current fitness guidelines and practices.
  • Enforce all SRWC policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with SRWC senior staff

  • Music and video must fit within the policies and procedures of Abilene Christian University
  • Create a positive and friendly environment
  • Begin class on time and do not allow class to continue past the scheduled end time
  • Provide a customer friendly experience and have fun
  • Design 30-minute to 1-hour workouts to include advanced, intermediate, and beginner variations for each exercise
  • Demonstrate and promote proper technique in all classes for the safety of each member
  • Enforce all SRWC policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate attendance and enforce check-in policies
  • Ensure that participants sign-in or tap their cards at the reader
  • Contact an SRWC staff member if you are uncomfortable enforcing a specific policy
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.
  • Coordinate with SRWC senior staff
  • Notify senior staff regarding your upcoming availability prior to each semester, when sick or unable to teach class, to report equipment that is in need of repair and any other problematic situations that may arise
  • In case of emergency, call 9-1-1, and notify senior staff
  • Send new certifications to senior staff
  • Maintain group exercise and American Red Cross First Aid/CPR and AED certifications
