The Group Exercise Instructor - Youth at the Downtown Boise YMCA is responsible for creating a safe and welcoming environment for youth participating in group exercise classes. This part-time role focuses on building relationships with participants, ensuring their safety, and delivering engaging and quality instruction in line with fitness trends.

  • Develop intentional relationships and create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Use the class platform to educate and inform participants.
  • Conduct class in a quality, fun, and safe manner that results in increased attendance.
  • Follow fitness trends and utilize prescribed formats when applicable.
  • Actively identify participants who need additional support, such as new members, health seekers, and participants with diverse abilities.
  • Monitor and ensure the safety of all participants.
  • Provide excellent delivery of land group exercise instruction to all members.
  • Monitor class attendance for data tracking.
  • Knowledge in group exercise instruction preferred.
  • Ability to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
  • Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills; must be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate.
  • Experience working with youth in a fitness or recreational setting.
  • Flexible scheduling based on youth program schedules.
