We are looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Director to support our Commercial Aircraft Group! In this role, you will serve as the strategic partner to the Commercial Aircraft Group (CAG) Executive team, developing and executing the CAG Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) compliance strategy. You will identify, develop and sustain EHS services that are aligned with global EHS policy and strategy, and serve the business needs of CAG. You will also ensure the implementation, execution and governance of global, corporate EHS programs and policy within their CAG. You will oversee and manage EHS performance, metrics and response for all CAG sites globally and serve as escalation point for site EHS staff. You will support the technical development of site EHS talent within CAG and provide a technical community for EHS engagement across the Group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of science degree in the field of Engineering (Chemical, Civil, Mechanical) and typically a professional certification in Hazardous Materials Management (CHMM), Safety Management Specialist (SMS) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Over 10 years working in similar manufacturing field, demonstrating effective manufacturing processes hazard evaluation/elimination, EHS training events, compliance audits, legal matters and developing lean EHS programs.
  • The ability to demonstrate technical competencies in behavior-based EHS management systems, Six Sigma, and diligence during incident investigations.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, problem solving, presentation and talent management skills.
  • Experience with supporting a portfolio of sites across a multi-country geographical region that required numerous simultaneous improvement plans, resources, and teams to be simultaneously managed.

Responsibilities

  • Own CAG EHS compliance, including standard systems and processes, utilizing effective communication tactics and resources that enable CAG success, across all sites.
  • Develop and manage EHS KPIs across portfolio to ensure successful implementation and change management systems are in place for long-term sustainment of EHS programs and supporting resources.
  • Provide technical review, approval and guidance on capital projects, compliance notices of violations/consent orders, divestitures, acquisitions, lease and customer contract clause and incident investigations of recordable/reportable events as applicable to EHS matters.
  • Track, respond, and oversee CAG environmental matters that require SEC reserves and report to Global EHS Director and Finance Teams quarterly.
  • Develop and maintain reporting system that enables Executive Leadership and Site Leaders to understand the Operating Groups EHS performance and business risks, and provide options to improve operations.
  • Measure and build up EHS talent, including developing plans for career development within all EHS personnel in the Operating Group for functional success.
  • Implement projects developed in conjunction with the Centers of Excellence, while taking ownership of auditing, training and partnership accountabilities with all Sites.
