About The Position

Heidelberg Materials is one of the world's largest suppliers of building materials. Heidelberg Materials North America operates over 450 locations across the U.S. and Canada with approximately 9,000 employees. In this role, you will lead global rail logistics procurement strategy, aligning with country teams and analyzing performance indicators. You will drive cost optimization through market benchmarking, insourcing vs. outsourcing analysis, and contract management for rail operations. Your responsibilities will include negotiating supplier contracts and developing should-cost models to identify savings opportunities across regions. You will manage North American logistics procurement, including inbound/outbound transport, warehousing, and third-party carrier performance. Additionally, you will champion digital sourcing initiatives and process optimization through e-auctions and logistics tools, advance sustainability goals by implementing green logistics strategies, and collaborate with suppliers on ESG standards. You will also mitigate logistics risks through continuity planning and ensure compliance with safety, trade, and industry regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Studies, Business Administration, or related fields; Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in procurement, logistics, or freight forwarding with a strong record in strategic sourcing and supplier management.
  • Deep expertise in transportation logistics, including cost structures, regulatory standards, and industry practices.
  • Strong analytical skills in market research, cost modeling, and spend data analysis to support strategic decisions.
  • Proven ability to develop sourcing strategies and lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with leadership qualities and a proactive, results-driven mindset.
  • High adaptability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally to support global logistics operations.
