Requirements

  • Must be able to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times per day.
  • Ability to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work tasks.
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with others.
  • Ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds infrequently and up to 30 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to work long hours and overtime during emergencies, including holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Maintain a herbicide applicator or operator's certification and license as required.
  • Must have valid First-Aid and CPR cards.

Responsibilities

  • Use a chainsaw to cut brush, logs, and stumps of larger trees.
  • Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris.
  • Feed brush into a wood chipper and gather brush to carry to the chipper area.
  • Work around hazardous equipment and excessive noise, wearing proper personal protective equipment.
  • Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
  • Set up barriers, warning signs, and flags to protect employees and the public.
  • Drive a truck with an attached brush chipper or other trailing units.
  • Service truck, chipper, and equipment, maintaining them in a neat and clean order.
  • Report the need for equipment and truck maintenance to the crew lead.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
