The Groundworker position is a full-time, non-exempt role that reports to the Crew Leader or General Foreperson. The essential functions of this job include using a chainsaw to cut brush, logs, and stumps of larger trees, working from the ground with gasoline-powered chainsaws, and loading and unloading trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris. The Groundworker will also gather brush and carry it to the chipper area, work around hazardous equipment, and be exposed to excessive noise from machines and chainsaws while wearing proper personal protective equipment. The role requires working in various weather conditions and environments, including rough terrain. The Groundworker is responsible for enforcing on-the-job safety practices, cooperating with local authorities when blocking streets, and setting up barriers and warning signs to protect employees and the public. Additional duties include performing tree and bucket rescue, applying herbicides and growth regulators, driving trucks with attached brush chippers, maintaining a clean work area, and servicing equipment.
