About The Position

Wright Tree Service is hiring a Groundworker to join our team immediately. This full-time, non-exempt position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $22.99 to $35.11, depending on experience, along with a $750 sign-on bonus. The Groundworker will be responsible for various essential functions including using chainsaws to cut brush, logs, and stumps, loading and unloading trucks, and ensuring safety practices are followed on the job site. The role requires working in various weather conditions and around hazardous equipment, while also maintaining a clean and orderly work area.

Requirements

  • Must be able to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times per day.
  • Must withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work tasks.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions.
  • Must communicate professionally with others.
  • Ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds infrequently and up to 30 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.
  • Ability to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Maintain a herbicide applicator or operator's certification and license as required.
  • Must have valid First-Aid and CPR cards.

Responsibilities

  • Uses a chainsaw to cut brush, logs, and stumps of larger trees.
  • Works from the ground using gasoline powered chainsaws.
  • Loads and unloads trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris.
  • Feeds brush into a wood chipper and gathers brush to carry to chipper area.
  • Works around hazardous equipment and excessive noise.
  • Enforces on-the-job safety practices for crew members.
  • Safeguards employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
  • Sets up barriers, warning signs, and flags to protect employees and the public.
  • Trained to perform tree and bucket rescue.
  • Applies herbicides and growth regulators to stumps and brush.
  • Drives a truck with an attached brush chipper or trailer.
  • Keeps work area picked up and orderly.
  • Carries and lays out tools and equipment at the work site.
  • Services truck, chipper, and equipment, maintaining them in a neat and clean order.
  • Reports the need for equipment and truck maintenance to crew lead.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
