About The Position

Do you have an interest in groundwater, geology, hydrology, GIS mapping, and solid waste management? This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience. This is a seasonal position responsible for assisting the County's Hydrogeologist in compiling and organizing groundwater data for ArcGIS Pro uploading and creating interactive groundwater maps.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of undergraduate classes in environmental, hydrology, water resources, geology, earth science, geography, or similar.
• At least 2 classes in GIS.
• Ability to use ArcGIS Pro, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office 365 products.
• Ability to be a self-starter.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Comfortable with public speaking and presenting to a group.

Responsibilities

• Export groundwater data tables in Adobe Acrobat into Microsoft Excel.
• Compile and organize groundwater data for ArcGIS Pro uploading.
• Obtain latitude/longitude of well points using Minnesota Well Index and/or convert from Northing/Easting.
• Georeference historical maps to a new base layer.
• Create a layer for each year of groundwater data.
• Assist in developing interactive maps of groundwater data.
• Attend field activities related to the project and other solid waste events as required.
