About The Position

The Ground Person at Lewis Tree Service plays a crucial role in utility vegetation management, focusing on tree trimming and line clearing duties. Requirements

• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting a minimum of 50 lbs to shoulder height or more.
• Capable of operating two-handed equipment such as chainsaws and circular saws, and endure extreme climate variances.
• Willing and able to obtain specialized training and certifications as required, including tree species identification and local, state, and federal licenses.
• Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR cards.
• Pass a pre-employment drug test and job duty skills tests.
• Possess a valid Driver's License and a valid Commercial Driver License.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in utility vegetation management or related fields.
• Previous training in tree trimming or climbing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Participate in an innovative climbing skills training program.
• Work as part of a tight-knit crew in a team environment.
• Perform line clearing and tree trimming duties for utility customers, including pruning trees and limbs, trimming or removing trees, and removing broken limbs from wires and roofs.
• Climb trees for manual trimming and removals in and above power lines.
• Prepare, operate, and maintain all tools and equipment, including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Remove limbs and brush, and clean up and dispose of debris.
• Mix and apply spray chemicals to preserve desirable vegetation.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the working area and help enforce on-the-job safety practices.
