Asplundh Tree Expert Co. is currently seeking a dedicated Vegetation Groundperson to join our team in Mooresville, NC. This full-time position involves a variety of essential functions that contribute to the effective management of tree care and vegetation maintenance. The primary responsibilities include using a chainsaw to cut brush, logs, and stumps of larger trees, as well as gathering brush and feeding it into a wood chipper. The role also requires applying chemical herbicide to right-of-way areas following brush removal, utilizing truck-mounted spray equipment or back-pack sprayers for remote areas. The Groundperson will be responsible for servicing the truck, chipper, and other equipment, ensuring they are maintained in a neat, clean, and mechanically sound condition. In this position, the Groundperson will work closely with senior spray personnel, assisting in the mixing of herbicides in holding tanks. The job entails working around hazardous equipment and excessive noise from machines, such as chain saws and wood chippers, necessitating the use of hearing protection. The role requires working in various weather conditions and temperatures, exposing the employee to nature, including irritating plants and insects. The Groundperson will also navigate unlevel ground and work around falling limbs, necessitating protective measures. Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry, employees must maintain attention and concentration for extended periods. The position requires physical endurance to perform duties throughout a standard eight or ten-hour day, including the ability to lift and maneuver weights of up to 50 pounds infrequently and 10 pounds frequently. The Groundperson must also be prepared to work long hours and overtime during emergencies, including weekends and holidays, and may be subject to call-out work. A valid driver's license is required, and candidates must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
