This role involves supervising Groundskeepers, Laborers, Equipment Operators, and other classified, temporary, or student employees engaged in groundskeeping and subspecialty activities. The supervisor has the authority to exercise independent judgment in planning and directing work activities, assigning duties, and monitoring work performance. Responsibilities include interviewing job applicants, conducting performance evaluations, and recommending personnel actions such as hiring and termination. The supervisor also communicates policies, resolves employee concerns, and maintains records of work hours and performance. Additionally, the supervisor plans daily groundskeeping activities, inspects completed work, and directs the cultivation of turf, trees, shrubs, and flowers. The role may also involve supervising snow and ice removal and maintaining inventory records.
