About The Position
The Groundskeeper plays a vital role in maintaining the aesthetic appeal and safety of outdoor spaces across various properties. This position involves the upkeep of lawns, beaches, gardens, and landscaped areas to ensure they are healthy, attractive, and well-maintained throughout the year. The Groundskeeper will be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, planting, and irrigation, contributing to the overall environment and curb appeal. Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards are essential to prevent hazards and preserve the integrity of the grounds. Ultimately, the Groundskeeper ensures that outdoor areas provide a welcoming and pleasant experience for visitors, residents, or employees.
Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders safely and work at heights as required.
- Basic math skills including the ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers for measurements and material calculations.
- Experience or knowledge in landscaping practices and plant care.
- Capability to perform frequent bending, lifting, and manual labor throughout the workday.
- Strong ability to follow both oral and written instructions accurately.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working as a groundskeeper or in a similar landscaping role.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems and basic equipment maintenance.
- Certification in horticulture or landscaping.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to outdoor work environments.
- Ability to identify common plant diseases and pests.
Responsibilities
- Perform regular lawn mowing, edging, trimming, and pruning to maintain neat and healthy landscapes.
- Plant, water, fertilize, and care for flowers, shrubs, trees, and other vegetation according to seasonal requirements.
- Operate and maintain landscaping equipment and tools safely and efficiently, including ladders and hand tools.
- Follow oral and written instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately and on schedule.
- Monitor grounds for hazards or maintenance needs and report issues promptly to supervisors.
- Assist with snow removal, leaf collection, and other seasonal outdoor maintenance activities.
- Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas by removing debris, litter, and waste materials.
- Collaborate with team members and demonstrate professionalism and a positive attitude in all interactions.
