Responsible for fertilization and application of control materials to turf and shrubbery beds. Prepares seeding or transplanting beds by cultivating soil. Plants trees, seeds and bulbs. Maintains all ornamental and flower beds. Prunes trees and trims hedges. Mows lawns. Connects sprinkling equipment and waters lawn and flower beds. Shovels snow and spread sand and salt. Operates snow removal equipment, plow trucks, salt trucks, as well as. Walk-behind and ride tractors with snowplows and/or snow blowers attached. Cleans roofs, roof drains and tunnel, as needed. Repairs blacktop roadway, as needed. Maintains shop, vehicles, and equipment. Completes daily time report at end of shift. Performs minor repairs/services in different trades as needed. Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct. Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements. Other Duties Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization.

Requirements

  • Ability to select and use tools appropriate for the job to be performed.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
  • High school graduation or equivalent is required.
