About The Position

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Homewood Mountain Resort, set on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe in Homewood, California. Homewood is seeking a Groundskeeper to join the Facilities Maintenance Department. The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the grounds and outside surfaces and features of the club facilities and residential homes. Responsibilities may include weeding (chemical and manual), lawn mowing, string trimming, edging, mulching, pruning, raking, sweeping, power blowing, and power washing. This position requires a sharp eye for detail to ensure an exceptional and visually appealing experience for our members. The groundskeeper will partner closely with Club Operations and Food & Beverage to ensure an immaculate visual appearance of our property.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in landscaping, preferably within a residential or hospitality environment.
  • Ability to operate landscape machinery such as push rotary mowers, string trimmers, backpack blowers, power washers, utility vehicles, and riding mowers.
  • Possess a valid drivers license and ability to operate vehicles properly and safely.
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain landscapes throughout club amenities, residential homes and common areas to include but not limited to weeding, lawn mowing, and string trimming, edging, mulching, fertilizing, pruning, and raking.
  • Install new landscape plantings and annual color (spring and fall) at residential homes around the ground of the club if needed.
  • Water and maintain new plantings as well as annual plantings.
  • Participate in leaf and pinecone and other ancillary debris removal as needed.
  • Basic knowledge of proper chemical and fertilizer applications to maintain a healthy and aesthetically pleasing landscape.
  • Maintain pristine condition of patios, walkways, docks, pier, outdoor furniture, and other outdoor high touch surfaces.
  • Remove trash and recycling; replace liners; transport waste to designated disposal areas.
  • Clean and maintain outdoor furniture, fixtures, and equipment, ensuring they are in good condition and free of damage or stains.
  • Safely operate all hand tools, large and small equipment such as leaf blowers, power washers, string trimmers, push mowers, zero turn mowers, and tractors.
  • Keep all work areas orderly and neat.
  • Assist with landscape projects as requested.
  • Participate in daily set-up/closing of the departments’ tools and equipment.
  • Maintain and clean pier/docks, patios, walkways, and parking areas to keep free of dirt, vegetation, debris, and cobwebs.
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown, including tables, chairs, and linen.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of event spaces before, during and after functions.
  • Report any safety or maintenance issues immediately to the Facilities Supervisor or Club Manager.
  • Attend department meetings and trainings as necessary.
  • Any other duties with Facilities Maintenance or other departments as assigned.
