About The Position

The Groundskeeper performs work in the general landscaping and ground maintenance of apartment buildings and building fixtures. The incumbent works as a member of a maintenance crew and performs a variety of skilled tasks in general landscaping. All activities must support Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (“KCDC” or “Authority”) mission, strategic goals, and objectives. The position duties and responsibilities listed below describe the general nature and scope of work. Other responsibilities, duties, and skills may be required and assigned, as needed.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field preferred.
  • Basic understanding of herbicide use and safety.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and attention to detail.
  • Dependable, trustworthy, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong leadership qualities, self-motivated and the ability to take initiative.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and be able to be insured by KCDC
  • High School Graduation or GED.
  • Previous experience as a groundskeeper.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to be insurable under the Authority’s automobile insurance plan at the standard rate.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference may be given to applicants who have worked as a landscaper and/or have experience using Yardi Voyager software for work orders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general landscaping and grounds maintenance duties, including mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, and planting.
  • Operate a variety of landscaping and maintenance equipment such as weed eaters, hedge trimmers, mowers, chainsaws, and edgers.
  • Use hand tools including shovels, rakes, loppers, and wheelbarrows to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assist in the application of herbicides and perform basic weed control duties (minor herbicide knowledge preferred).
  • Maintain clean, safe, and well-kept grounds across all KCDC properties.
  • Identify areas needing improvement and proactively take action to address them.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and maintain equipment in good working condition.
