About The Position

Northern Cochise Community Hospital is seeking a dependable Groundskeeper to maintain our campus grounds and support basic facility maintenance. The Groundskeeper is responsible for performing manual work related to the care and maintenance of hospital grounds, landscaping, parking areas, and exterior structures. This role also assists with routine maintenance and minor repairs to buildings and equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or irrigation systems highly desirable
  • Maintenance experience a plus
  • Knowledge of horticulture, irrigation, plant materials, and soil care
  • Skill in use of landscaping tools and equipment (powered and non‑powered)
  • Ability to operate construction, pruning, soil‑prep, and irrigation tools safely
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 100 lbs)
  • Indoor/outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Possible exposure to chemicals, fumes, airborne particles
  • Possible exposure to blood or body fluids (OSHA Category 2)
  • Use of protective equipment as required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain grounds and exterior landscaping
  • Water, fertilize, weed, mow, trim, and mulch landscaped areas
  • Remove trash and debris from parking lots and exterior building areas
  • Operate and maintain manual and powered landscaping equipment
  • Clean exterior windows, gutters, and storm drains
  • Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides as needed
  • Prune trees and remove damaged branches
  • Maintain irrigation systems
  • Address snow/ice removal as needed
  • Assist with general building maintenance (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, minor carpentry)
  • Receive and follow work orders from Team Lead/Supervisor
  • Document maintenance activities and safety checks per regulatory requirements
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment (fire extinguishers, kitchen equipment, oxygen/vacuum systems, etc.)
  • Additional duties as assigned
