About The Position

This is work performing grounds maintenance and landscape installation duties including but not restricted to maintenance of turf, landscape, and irrigation; litter control; and set up for special events. Specific duties will be determined by the supervisor. This position is designated as a Tier 2 respondent for designated campus emergencies and events. In the event of a declared campus emergency, the position incumbent will make every effort to return to campus when directed.

Requirements

• Completion of ninth (9th) grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219
• Some positions may require possession of a classified driver’s license appropriate to a type of vehicle operated
• Possesses the ability to pound metal stakes into the ground with a sledgehammer and lift heavy tent poles into place

Responsibilities

• Mowing
• Weed eating, edging asphalt and cement surfaces
• Plant bed maintenance
• Equipment/shop maintenance
• Landscape construction
• Special projects/events
• Participate in special event set ups and other work
• Assist with campus maintenance emergencies
• Assist with new utilities installation and maintenance of existing utilities
• Manages work orders
• Raking leaves
• Prescribed burning
