About The Position

The Groundskeeper performs heavy manual work involving limited skills in various maintenance and construction tasks. This role requires laboring tasks with some acquired skills in using hand tools and equipment, and occasional operation of light automotive equipment. Duties may include removing, cleaning, adjusting, and lubricating mechanical equipment, as well as assisting journeymen in various trade and craft areas. The employee is responsible for the upkeep and efficient operation of tools and equipment. Instructions are typically received orally, and routine tasks are performed with considerable independence, while more difficult work is supervised by a foreman or skilled craftsman. All work is subject to inspection during progress and upon completion.

Requirements

• Generally, requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.
• Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
• Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment.
• Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.

Responsibilities

• Operates power mowers, saws, edger's, and clippers and other equipment used in landscaping and ground maintenance.
• Operates hospital vehicle in removing debris.
• Pressure cleans patios and entrances when necessary.
• Trim foliage, cuts grass and weeds, digs holes for trees and shrubs, assists in planting trees and shrubbery, trims hedge and rakes leaves.
• Operates equipment in a safe way to prevent accidents.
• Reports immediately, malfunctions of equipment to supervisor.
• Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).
• Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
