About The Position

Requirements

  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure.
  • Positive interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
  • High School Degree or GED required
  • One year gardening and grounds keeping duties.
  • Maintains all current licenses and certifications
  • Able to operate a variety of gas powered equipment and sharpen hand tools safely.
  • Be familiar with all Hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Maintains high standards for work area and appearance and presents self in highly professional manner to staff and guest.
  • Available days, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as business dictates.

  • Experience maintaining large grounds preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet each guest, enthusiastically and with a smile to create a friendly positive experience.
  • Conforms to AAA Four Diamond Standards.
  • Responsible for purchasing plants, gourds, pumpkins, etc. from approved vendors.
  • Plants, weeds, rakes and waters grounds; transplants and mulches as necessary.
  • Prunes annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees using the appropriate techniques according to the plant.
  • Edges, mows, fertilize lawns, and monitor the watering needs of the grounds; ensures efficient operation of irrigation systems.
  • Sets scheduling of irrigation time clocks for a water-efficient irrigation schedule.
  • Implements landscape improvement/renovation projects using appropriate plants and landscape materials.
  • Calculates amounts and applies pesticides according to industry safety procedures; understands and follows material safety data sheets and labels and required emergency treatments for specific chemicals.
  • Identifies common landscape weeds and applies control measures.
  • Maintains property pathways and roads, patching potholes, cleaning drains, and sweeping debris.
  • Uses leaf blowers, turf vacs, other tools, or hands to remove trash and debris from grounds.
  • Do not disturb guest during early morning hours by using power equipment.
  • Operates power equipment such as, but not limited to, edger, hedge trimmers, chain saws, and tractor/loaders as necessary.
  • Sets up for social events (i.e., weddings).
  • Performs minor repairs to equipment and irrigation sprinklers; may assist in the installation and maintenance of drip irrigation systems; may repair impact sprinkler heads in lawn.
  • Winterize all outdoor and indoor water pipes.
  • Maintain and adequately inspect power equipment.
  • Performs snow removal as required.
  • May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; order parts as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
  • Fully aware of and comply with Inns policies and procedures as identified in the procedure manual and handbook.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
