About The Position

The position involves maintenance work necessary to maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment at the Oklahoma City Housing Authority. The employee will be directly responsible to the Lead Maintenance Affordable Housing and will perform a variety of tasks related to grounds maintenance and the upkeep of unoccupied units.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with vocational school training or three years of Grounds Maintenance related employment or a combination thereof.
  • Ability to gain a good general knowledge of the Maintenance work order and inventory control system.
  • Ability to complete paperwork accurately.
  • Ability to use initiative, work independently, and take appropriate action on unassigned tasks.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and deal tactfully with the public.
  • Ability to retain proprietary information as confidential.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to comply with Authority attendance policies.
  • A valid Oklahoma Driver license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general yard, lawn, or grounds maintenance duties including grass cutting, edging, fertilizing, cultivating yards, shrubs, and flower beds.
  • Trim shrubs and water lawns, shrubs, and flower beds.
  • Cut, roll, tamp, and lay sod; build fences and work with concrete.
  • Clean out vacant units and pick up and haul trash and heavy loads.
  • Remove ice, snow, and trees.
  • Operate heavy-duty equipment related to maintenance activities, including up to a 2 1/2 ton dump truck.
  • Secure unoccupied units and perform make-ready tasks including painting, cleaning, drywall repairs/installation, floor care, and ceramic/vinyl tile repairs.
  • Perform basic plumbing and electrical work, window and door screen repairs, and siding repairs.
  • Be available for emergency, after-hours, weekend, and holiday work.
  • Comply with OCHA policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Housing Manager.
