About The Position

SSC We are hiring immediately for a full time GROUNDSKEEPER (NURSERY) position. Location : TAMU Grounds - 600 Agronomy Road, College Station, TX 77843. (Openings at other locations within school district available) Note: online applications accepted only . Schedule : Full time schedule; Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:30 pm. Rotating weekends required. More details upon interview. (Full and Part Time with the flexibility to meet most scheduling needs) Requirement : Prior experience in basic plant care is required; groundskeeping experience is preferred. Pay Range: $13.00 per hour to $17.50 per hour. Job Summary Summary: Plans and administers a program of grounds and plant maintenance, including growing schedules and continued propagation through plants and cuttings. Responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the care of grasses and plants. Trims, prunes and removes scrubs, bushes and trees. Performs general janitorial duties including property inspections, landscaping and grounds maintenance.

Requirements

Prior experience in basic plant care is required; groundskeeping experience is preferred.
Valid Non-CDL Class C driver's license required.
Ability to stand, lift. push/pull heavy carts for long periods.
Does require weekend rotation for watering in the greenhouse and outside nursery.
Occasional in the field installation of annual color.

Responsibilities

Planting seeding/cuttings, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, pruning, weeding, thinning and pest and disease control.
Preparing soil mixes.
Rotating crops, managing inventory, and assist with loading as plant material goes to the field.
Keeping greenhouses and nursery clean at all times.
Inspects common areas and reports deficiencies to Maintenance Supervisor.
Inspects exterior of the property and grounds; reports deficiencies to Maintenance Supervisor.
Mows lawns weekly during the proper season.
Cleans landscaping tools and equipment after each use.
Trims bushes to maintain neat appearance and desired shape.
Weeds flowerbeds weekly or more often if needed.
Shovels exterior walkways during wintery weather; salts or sands icy walkways as needed.
Contributes to the team; facilitates good customer interactions; exhibits professionalism with customers, fellow employees and others with whom there is contact.
Performs other duties as assigned.
