About The Position

The Groundskeeper – Irrigation Specialist BG-04 is a career opportunity at Tyson Foods, Incorporated. This position requires adequate knowledge in multiple skill sets including irrigation systems, horticulture, turf care, and lawn and garden tool usage and maintenance. In addition to assisting the grounds team with regular grounds maintenance activities: Employee will assess, diagnose, and fix irrigation issues in drip and sprinkler systems Employee will maintain irrigation systems Employee will monitor watering schedules and adjust when needed. Employee will winterize irrigation systems Employee should be comfortable troubleshooting problems in the field Equipment you will be expected to operate include mowers, tractors, snow blowers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, weed eaters, edgers, blowers, drills, and various hand tools. You will also be required to drive vehicles to or at work sites and pull a utility trailer. Employee will be required to get a DOT certification for pulling a utility trailer once hired, if not already certified, and will be required to maintain that certification. Employee will help team maintain equipment and must be willing to assist team with special projects related to facilities maintenance and enhancement. Employee will be expected to help with snow removal and other job duties as assigned. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to hot and cold outside weather conditions, and to noisy equipment. Quality, safety, and efficiency are our top priorities, and employee will be expected to demonstrate these characteristics in how they work. Pay $19.55 Hourly Work Schedule: Monday – Friday. Hours are typically 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. We will start as early as 6:00 AM during the hot part of the summer.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years minimum working on irrigation systems
  • 1 year experience in grounds keeping, horticulture, lawn maintenance, or landscaping field
  • DOT certification for pulling a utility trailer can be completed once hired.
  • High level oral communication and problem-solving skills are helpful.
  • Must have the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with other team members, all levels of management, as well as executive leadership.
  • Understand troubleshooting and operation of lawn and garden equipment.
  • Understand basic mechanical skills and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Understand basic horticulture and landscaping practices.
  • You must be able to display sound judgment, leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Employee must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Small engine repair knowledge is helpful.
  • Computer Skills: Not necessary but helpful
