About The Position

The Groundskeeper - Equipment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment and heavy construction equipment and for maintaining and repairing campus grounds, irrigation systems, walkways and parking areas; may perform as a lead during a supervisor' absence; does related work as required. The Groundskeeper - Equipment Operator will also perform maintenance and tasks related to landscape, hardscape, municipal and athletic maintenance and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent supplemented by coursework in horticulture operations and practices
• One year of experience in the operation of heavy construction equipment and landscaping equipment
• Six months of experience in grounds maintenance
• Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver's License
• Must have or be able to provide within 6 months from date of hire Massachusetts 2A/1C Hoisting License

Nice To Haves

• Massachusetts (MDAR) Pesticide Applicator License

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain construction, landscaping & maintenance equipment and medium to heavy duty trucks/plows
• Perform basic landscaping tasks, including mowing, fertilizing, raking, weeding, planting, mulching, trimming and pruning etc.
• Complete small landscape/hardscape construction projects including, tree/limb removal and paving repairs/installation, irrigation, sod cutting/installation
• Snow removal
• Waste removal and litter picking
• Event/traffic control setups, loading and unloading of trucks
• Other duties as assigned
