About the position
The Grounds Crew Leader is responsible for landscaping, maintaining, and cleaning school grounds and athletic fields under general supervision. This role involves performing various landscaping tasks, ensuring the upkeep of outdoor areas, and assisting with athletic field preparations.
Responsibilities
- Mows, edges, trims grass, trees, and shrubs at the assigned site.
- Plants grass, trees, shrubs, etc.
- Waters, fertilizes, and sprays weed control as needed.
- Assists with preparing and marking all athletic fields.
- Performs periodic checks on all outside areas at District sites.
- Picks up litter and empties trashcans within assigned athletic fields, open playgrounds, and parking lots.
- Assists with snow removal and spreading of ice melts on walkways.
- Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and reports any major damage to the supervisor.
- Responsible for duties after regular working hours such as athletic events and use of outside facilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to read and interpret routine written or printed materials.
- Ability to effectively use garden and hand tools.
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
- One to two years of experience in landscaping and operating motorized equipment.
