About The Position

Conducts lawn maintenance and care activities for all district grounds. Maintain school grounds including mowing, trimming trees, collecting and disposing of refuse and landscaping. Operates mowers, trimmers, bush cutters, chain saws, trucks, tractors, skid loaders, blowers and other grounds equipment. Performs landscaping projects. Maintains, cares for and prepares athletic fields for sporting events. Performs turf and lawn care. Lays out, marks and paints athletic fields (i.e baseball, football, track, soccer, etc.) for scheduled events and practices. Maintains benches, fences, bleachers and irrigation systems. Grooms fields, when appropriate. Performs and conducts snow removal for all district facilities and lots. Removes snow and ice from sidewalks, parking lots, driveways and around buildings of the district. .Conducts routine and general maintenance to ground equipment and tools. Attends job related and/or mandatory workshops and training programs. Complies with health and safety mandates, including OSHA standards. Perform other duties as assigned by the Custodial Services Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Minnesota Class CDL license and medical card or ability to obtain upon employment
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, machines and materials used in maintaining grounds and outside facilities.
  • Preventative maintenance practices and procedures for tools, equipment and machinery.
  • Knowledge of district safety procedures and requirements in the operation of large machinery, powered equipment, mowers, etc.
  • Experience in snow removal and sanding/salting (driveways, parking lots and sidewalks
