About The Position

The Grounds Technician for Golf Course Operations plays an essential role in the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of Shanty Creek Resorts’ golf courses. This hands-on position is responsible for supporting the course’s turf care, landscaping, and overall grounds upkeep to ensure high-quality playing conditions and an exceptional guest experience.

Working under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, the Grounds Technician operates a variety of specialized equipment, performs routine maintenance tasks, and helps preserve the natural beauty of the resort’s golf facilities. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and being part of a team that takes pride in creating outstanding golf environments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to operate basic grounds maintenance equipment (mowers, trimmers, utility vehicles, etc.)
• Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
• The Grounds Technician must be reliable, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented.
• This position requires the ability to work in varying weather conditions and a strong work ethic.
• A team-oriented mindset and a willingness to learn new tasks and techniques are essential.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in golf course or landscape maintenance
• Familiarity with basic turf care practices
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with outdoor equipment
• Interest in golf and/or turf management
• Basic mechanical knowledge and an appreciation for golf course aesthetics are helpful.

Responsibilities

• Mow greens, tees, fairways, and rough using riding and walking mowers
• Maintain bunkers, landscaping beds, and other course features
• Perform trimming, edging, and debris removal to maintain course appearance
• Assist with irrigation monitoring and minor repairs
• Safely apply topdressing, seed, fertilizer, and other turf materials under supervision
• Operate utility vehicles and perform light equipment maintenance
• Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth operations
• Support event and tournament setup as needed
